Meet Liz & John
Puparazzi Pet Care has been our life's work since 2014. We built this business because we believe your pets deserve the same level of care you'd give them yourself, with the professionalism and reliability you shouldn't have to hope for.

Liz Smith
Owner
I started Puparazzi Pet Care in 2014 because I wanted to build the kind of pet care service I'd actually trust with my own animals. Over a decade later, that standard hasn't changed. We handle every client onboarding personally, train every team member, and stay involved in the day-to-day care of your pets. I'm Pet CPR and First Aid certified, and I still walk dogs regularly because I never want to lose touch with what our clients and their pets actually need.

John Smith
Co-Owner & Community Manager
I'm the other half of Puparazzi. You'll often find me on walks, handling pet sitting visits, or connecting with clients and neighbors in the communities we serve. Our clients' pets know me by name. I focus on building relationships, both with the families we work for and the NE San Antonio communities we've called home. If your dog needs a leash recommendation or your beagle is pulling too hard on walks, I've probably got a solution.
Why We Work as a Team (and Why that's Better for Your Pet)
Some pet care companies promise the same walker every time. We promise something better: a team trained to the same high standard, following your pet’s documented routine, with backup built in so you’re never left without coverage.
Every walker follows your pet's specific instructions — documented in your client profile, not memorized by one
If your primary walker is unavailable, a qualified backup who already knows your pet and your home steps in.
GPS-tracked walks and photo report cards come after every visit, regardless of who walks.
No coverage gaps. No scrambling. Your pet's routine stays consistent even when life doesn't

How Every Team Member Earns Their Place
We do not hand someone a leash and send them out. Every new team member goes through a structured training process before they ever visit a client's pet on their own. Here is what that looks like.
Step 1:
Orientation and classroom training Every new hire starts with a full orientation covering our standards, safety protocols, client communication, home access procedures, and what we expect on every single visit. They learn our systems before they ever meet a pet.
Step 2:
Shadowing a manager on real visits New team members ride along with an experienced manager on actual client visits. They see how we greet pets, follow documented routines, handle different home setups, and close out each visit with notes and photos. This isn't a simulation. They're learning on the job with real pets in real homes.
Step 3:
Manager observation on supervised visits When a new team member is ready to lead a visit, a manager is still right there with them. They handle the full visit while being observed, and they get direct feedback before moving forward. No one passes this step until we're confident they meet our standard.
Step 4:
First solo visits with manager check-ins Even after a team member is cleared for solo visits, their first clients are selected carefully and their manager stays in close contact. We review their visit notes, photos, and timing until we're certain the quality is consistent.
By the time a walker arrives at your door, they have already proven themselves. You are not a test run.

Common Questions About Our Team
Q: Will my dog always have the same walker?
We assign a primary walker who gets to know your pet, your home, and your routine. If they’re unavailable, a trained backup who already has your instructions steps in seamlessly. Every walker follows the same documented process, so your pet’s experience stays consistent.
Q: How are your walkers trained?
Every team member completes online training modules, an in-person orientation, field training with a senior walker, and supervised shadow shifts before their first solo visit. All walkers hold current Pet CPR and First Aid certification.
Q: Do you hire or use independent contractors?
Our walkers are W-2 employees, not gig workers or independent contractors. That means we set the standards, provide the training, and maintain accountability. It also means your care team is insured under our business policy.
Q: How do you handle home access?
We support keyless entry systems and lockbox setups. Every visit follows a documented lock-up and security procedure. You’ll receive a photo report confirming your home was secured after each visit.
Q: Is Puparazzi Pet Care insured?
Yes. We carry full business liability insurance that covers every visit. Every team member is also individually background checked before they’re hired.
Q: How long has Puparazzi Pet Care been in business?
Since 2014. We’ve been serving families in Live Oak, Schertz, Cibolo, Universal City, Selma, Garden Ridge, and NE San Antonio for over a decade.
